Why there is no single price

Because the work is measured in grafts, the amount of hair you want moved has the biggest effect on your total. FUE vs. FUT: how technique affects cost
There are two widely accepted methods of hair transplantation.
Follicular unit transplantation (FUT) removes a strip of scalp from a donor area, usually the back of the head, and divides it into grafts. It leaves a linear scar in the donor area, which can be a concern if you wear your hair short.
Follicular unit extraction (FUE) removes individual follicular units one at a time with a tiny punch, spread across a wider donor zone, and leaves no linear scar. It takes more of the surgeon's time, so FUE can look more expensive than FUT at first glance. The cost per transplanted hair, however, may work out lower with FUE.

What drives hair transplant cost
Number of grafts
Grafts are the main driver of cost. Many practices quote hair transplants per graft, so the total depends on how many follicular units it takes to cover the area you want to treat. Larger sessions usually bring the per-graft price down, while small touch-up sessions tend to cost more per graft. Specialized work, such as facial hair or body hair grafts, often costs more per graft than scalp work.
Size of the area and the hairline
Restoring a receding hairline or filling a few thin patches takes far fewer grafts than treating thinning across the whole top of the scalp. A hairline-only procedure is usually the smaller investment. Your donor supply also matters, because it sets how many grafts can be moved safely.
Number of sessions
Some patients reach their goal in one session. Others with more extensive hair loss plan a second session later to build density. Each session is priced on its own, so your plan for one or more sessions is part of your quote.
Surgeon experience
Surgeons with more experience may charge more. A higher price does not automatically mean a better surgeon, so look at before and after photos and ask who performs each part of the procedure.
Recovery and follow-up
When you budget, include recovery costs such as medications and follow-up visits. If you travel for your procedure, add travel and lodging too.
